MOD POST [28 Nov 2005|10:32am]

The Bibliography Clause: We have found out, rather quickly, that everyone is learning more about the stars they love and disvoering new stars they never knew of or thought they would like, but they don't know where to find out more. Therefore, we're asking that if you become a member and are portraying someone, when you use websites, books, magazines, etc. you add your source to your profile.

Thank you to orson_welles who brought this suggestion to light!

PS: Would anyone like to do a member of the month? If so, what should be that person's "prize"? Custom MEMBER OF THE MONTH icon/banner? photo posting theme added to the month about that person? We could also post one ordinary looking photo of them and have a theme contest like "what's your funny theme/title for this photo?" ???

((Uh, now I really feel like an English major, but I have a suggestion.

I think everyone should have some works cited part in thier profiles. This way, if any readers or fellow members take up an interest in your celebrity, they can look at your profile and see what books, websites or other sources you are using to portray your person.
Also, we should really give credit to the people who collected the information we are using. I know I am using at least two books for this person and three or four for my other person.
Personally, I am definately doing it, but I thought I'd bring it up as a thought for our mods to think about.))

This is the list of members who wish to give their journal up to someone else (for whatever reason). Instead of deleting their journal and a new person having to think up a new name, they can simply change the registered e-mail and take over the journal, I believe that's how it works. I don't know how the adoption process works, but if anyone out there does, let me know so I can direct things better. Thank you.

more potential characters you could portray [13 Oct 2005|01:39pm]

We must remember the ground breakers, the actors and actresses who had to walk off the beaten path in order to make a name for themselves in Hollywood's Golden Days. Minority actors and actresses who couldn't pass themselves off as white were forced to play stereotyped supporting roles, but they made them their own. Some of those brilliant and magnificent entertainers are listed below and if you'd like to see their filmographies, bios, photos, and more head on over to the Potential Characters List to link to their IMDb website. I hope people really take an interest in these stars, becuase they deserve to be remembered.

Josephine Baker
Harry Belafonte
Dorothy Dandridge
Sammy Davis, Jr.
Hattie McDaniels
Butterfly McQueen
Fayhard Nicholas (the Nicholas Brothers)
Harold Nicholas (the Nicholas Brothers)
Brock Peters
Sidney Pointier
